Custom installation for Champions Bar – Australian Open 2011 |
Who would have imagined that the craft of the 70s….yes that one we all did it art rooms and at Grandma’s kitchen table could be so cool. Macrame. I remember an aunt teaching me to make macrame belts with bright coloured nylon cords and then progressing onto the more rugged string and twine to create plant holders and the owl. I loved reading Lucy Feagin’s interview @ the Deisgn Files with Sarah Parkes of Smalltown. Sarah has recreated the art of macrame as an on trend, must have decoration, whether it be as an installation at a gallery, restaurant or boutique or a lamp shade or piece of customised jewellery. It has inspired me to go back and give it a go. What do you think?
