Have you tried painting with your kids? Not just the small scale paint and pots kind. But let us have fun and let go on a large scale canvas? Where we live you can pick up large canvas boards for a little over $10. With palettes of acrylic paint, brushes and smock my youngest two children were given freedom to paint – at times together, sometimes in isolated ‘patches’ and with various approaches to style and form. I had hoped that they might produce blocks of colour (no black or white), that I would then stencil with white triangle shapes. But I have left it as it is – organic, colourful and a part of our family history. We have a bright artwork that hangs in our dining area and adds spice and zing to our everyday living.
